Things to Know About Choosing the Best CBD Tincture Oil

Not All CBD Brands Are Created Equal! There are hundreds of CBD brands in the market today, but there are zero FDA regulations to weed out reputable companies from the fakes. A 2020 FDA report found that only 45% of products tested contained within 20% of the CBD listed, with 18% containing less and 37% containing significantly more CBD.

What Causes This Inaccuracy?

Because of the lack of oversight, anyone can create a product, slap a label on it, and call it CBD. Between, sourcing, manufacturing, and third-party testing, it’s costly to create a reputable CBD product, therefore if you see a CBD tincture that is much lower priced than its competitors, you should probably steer away.

How Can You Tell If a Brand is Reputable? Read the label.

Every label should have the amount of CBD on the bottle in milligrams. Most tinctures are sold in 450-1000 milligram bottles. Be cautious of tinctures with much larger dosages than that. Next look for a QR code that scans its third-party lab testing results. This is one of the best ways to vet a CBD brand. Similarly, these results should also be available online. Third-party testing ensures there are legal limits of THC (if any) present and that the product is free from pesticides, chemicals, and heavy metals.

Do Not Just Read the Label! Read the Fine Print.

For quality control purposes, each CBD tincture label should also have a batch number, lot number, expiration date, and ingredient list. Just as you would read the label for any food product, review the ingredients in your CBD tinctures. Ideally, they would contain the least amount of ingredients possible: carrier oil, CBD, and flavorings (if necessary). A carrier oil is used to mix with CBD for absorption into the body. Some companies may use less expensive sunflower oil or even water; look for companies that use quality oils with no preservatives.

Stay Educated – Stay Safe

In conclusion, it’s important to be aware that not all CBD brands are created equal due to the lack of FDA regulations in the market. Many products may not contain the amount of CBD listed on the label, and some may even contain harmful substances. To determine if a brand is reputable, read the label carefully for the amount of CBD in milligrams, look for QR codes that provide third-party lab testing results, and check for batch numbers, expiration dates, and ingredient lists. Stay educated and stay safe when choosing CBD products to ensure you’re getting a quality and reliable product.
